The Importance of Testing for Learning Disabilities

Research at organizations like Understood.org has shown that if children with challenges that include conditions like autism, dyslexia, dyscalculia and ADHD aren’t given the help and support that they need, they may not have the opportunity to develop their true potential and fully explore the gifts they have been given.

If you suspect that your child may be struggling because of an undiagnosed condition or one of the various types of learning disabilities, testing for autism or a learning disabilities evaluation can be an important step. You can read more about The Importance of Testing for Learning Disabilities here.

Dyslexia and Learning Disability Testing Online

Due to the challenges of COVID, having a virtual dyslexia or learning disability assessment online is now routine and universally accepted. The doctor is able to present reading, math, processing, IQ, focus and personality tests by sharing screens. Writing tests and some dyslexia testing have to be done with paper and pencil so the student receives a packet via overnight mail to be completed during the virtual testing session. All test data is returned to the doctor’s office in Littleton, Colorado. You can read more about virtual dyslexia and learning disability testing here.

Insurance covers talk sessions but NOT Educational testing for Dyslexia, Learning Disabilities or anything school-related. The latter includes educational and learning issues and school readiness exams, plus Extended time testing for the ACT/SAT/LSAT/MCAT. ADHD and Autism testing may include portions that are considered educational by insurance therefore not covered. Depending on your insurance company, larger percentages of the ADHD and Autism testing may well be covered.
